This is a fun activity in Wandsworth, London

Looking for hands-on woodworking classes in London? Join Harry and Johanna from Variegate and learn how to design and make a sustainable charcuterie board for your home using offcuts from their furniture projects!

First of all, ensuring everyone's safety is paramount, so we'll conduct a comprehensive safety briefing, familiarising you with the tools we'll be using.

Next, it's time to unleash your creativity! You'll handpick a piece of wood sourced from the offcuts of our furniture business. Whether you wish to design a custom board shape or use one of our stencils, the choice is entirely yours.

Under our expert guidance, you'll bring your design to life using a bandsaw and then refine and perfect it with a variety of tools at your disposal; hand sandpaper, an orbital sander, and a disc/belt sander. You'll achieve a smooth and polished finish that showcases the natural beauty of the wood.

To protect and enhance your charcuterie board, you'll learn how to apply mineral oil and get a quick rundown on how to properly care for your board.

Our practical woodworking classes are comprehensive and designed for complete beginners, so no prior knowledge or experience with woodworking is needed. Give the gift of creativity and craft to yourself or a loved one!

I had a lovely session with Johanna. She is kind, patient and professional in teaching wood craft techniques. The workshop location is in a spacious and quiet garden, you get to enjoy the calmness of nature. The timber material I got was a beautiful sapele, sustainability sourced. Overall I’ll rate this experience 10/10. Under Johanna’s guidance, the final product was so gorgeous.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable three hours with Johanna. THe project of coming away with two chopping boards was very methodically demonstrated, using all the tools and machines available to shape and smooth an ordinary plank of British Ash wood! We were delighted with the end product which we will use in our kitchen. A very goodexperience and good value bearing in mind all thge paraphanalia available. Good fun! and differen! Colin Bruce

I had a lovely time! I was impressed by how tidy and organized the workshop was. The teacher was very nice and easy to chat with, and she also gave me tips/answered questions about some wood projects I'm doing myself too. It was interesting learning about all of the tools and getting a chance to use them/practice. The board looks great and I can't wait to use it!

I booked this workshop as an anniversary present for my other half as he loves all things creative and working with his hands. We both had an amazing time making our charcuterie boards! We got to choose the type of wood we wanted to use and managed to use our own design too! He loved using the tools and learning from Johanna. Johanna is a fantastic teacher and incredibly patient…even with people like me who doesn’t really have much creativity! I can’t wait to hear about more workshops from Johanna and Harry

This was a fantastic, fun workshop. Johanna was very warm and friendly and explained everything really clearly. She helped when needed but was very good at standing back so we really felt the finished board was our work. We were all really pleased with what we made.
