Celebrate your birth flower in stunning watercolour or create a beautiful artwork inspired by a loved one’s birth. This is a great project for marking a new arrival, helping you learn the simple techniques of this timeless art.

Develop your watercolour skills, guided by one of our expert Hobbycraft Artisans. You can choose to follow along with your own materials or book with a craft kit included.

The class will take an online webinar format, giving you the opportunity to watch a live demonstration of the project while also being able to ask any questions. The host will lead you through different watercolour techniques over the course of an hour, taking you through the steps of mixing and layering your colours and adding depth to the piece.

You’ll be shown all the steps required allowing you to paint along, or you can work on your watercolour piece at any pace you choose.

Simply select your chosen birth flower from the dropdown menu to join the right workshop for you. There are 12 flowers to choose from: snowdrop (January), iris (February), daffodil (March), sweet pea (April), lily of the valley (May), rose (June), waterlily (July), poppy (August), morning glory (September), marigold (October), peony (November) and holly (December).

Top Tip: You only need to purchase the craft kit once as the materials included will cover all of the designs available, book on to additional sessions for £10 each. Each month we will release dates for the next flower.

You’ll be sent a follow-up video which will be live for 12 months to guide you in your own time.

This workshop is also available as a private workshop for group bookings with craft kits of 8+.

Keeping everyone safe
At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

Really good class especially in the hour we had. It totally did not feel like an hour and quite happily could have gone on a second hour. I do however think the teacher has a huge task to try and complete it in an hour and an another half an hour would be ideal.

Really enjoyed this evening's class which was the sweet pea flower. Emma was a great teacher and gave clear guidance and advice. I enjoyed the colour mixing and the paper wetting technique. I didn't get to finish but I will do that in my own time.

Excellent session with a patient teacher At a good pace though it had to go over the hour a bit to finish. I’m glad she allowed the time to finish
