This welcoming workshop encourages self esteem through learning a new skill. Expect a challenge! Crochet is not entirely relaxing to begin with, but by working together, we will achieve a new craft which is limitless in its possibilities. Weather its clothes, accessories, toys or homeware, crochet can transform your perception and ignite your creative brain.
To start, we cover the foundational concepts of crochet, together building knowledge to understand the craft and all its wonderful possibilities!
Each attendee will be able to choose yarn in their preferred tones to get started as we discuss colour combinations and explore yarn and hook variants. We then move on to covering three of the foundational crochet stitches with your very own new crochet hook. We cover these one by one and take it incredibly slow together as it can be the most challenging part of the lesson. After sufficient practise we move on to combining these stitches in accordance to the pattern to create the famously versatile granny square. My classes are usually small which ensures everyone gets plenty of much appreciated 1-1 time. By teaching from my home I provide a personable and relaxing learning environment where my students feel at ease looking out onto the garden. As the challenging part of the workshop eases off we can enjoy the hot drinks and sweet treats and discuss our future hopes for crochet. Finally when we finish the class you will receive reference materials to take home to remind you of everything we covered in the lesson.
By the end of the workshop, each attendee will feel happily confident in the skills needed to understand basic crochet patterns and have the ability to crochet up the work themselves.
