Join this engaging textiles workshop where you’ll dive into the creative world of free motion machine embroidery. Discover how to use a sewing machine as a drawing tool to make a unique, personalized embroidered image to take home. You’ll experiment with contouring, explore color and texture through different threads, and learn how to incorporate appliqué techniques using fabric scraps. We'll even show you how to sew it onto fabric, which is perfect if you're looking to upcycle your clothes, a tote bag, or a cushion cover.
During the workshop, you will be guided step-by-step through the following:
Tracing Your Design: Bring your image or sketch it directly onto fabric. If needed, I’ll help simplify your drawing, and if you’re quick, you’ll have time to add more elaborate details.
Exploring Techniques: Learn embroidery methods such as contouring, free-motion stitching, and appliqué.
Finish by bringing Your Design to Life: Sew your embroidered design onto fabric supplied by us or, if desired, onto an item you’ve brought with you. It's the perfect opportunity to transform old clothes or home accessories into new personalised works of art you can take home to use or wear with pride.

About the teacher: Viki is an upcycling designer with a deep passion for reworking surplus textiles and embellishing them with embroidery. She is dedicated to educating people about sustainable fashion. Viki studied fashion design in Bristol and Berlin and has since developed a children's clothing brand - Hello Mundo. Viki also collaborates with private clients, transforming their old clothes or 'fabrics from the attic' into new garments.
