This is a fun activity in Wotton Wawen, Birmingham
Create a beautiful, functional piece of glasswork at this fused glass lantern workshop – a hands-on session where you'll design and make two bespoke glass panels to fit a 28cm black steel lantern, ready for use indoors or out with a pillar candle or fairy lights.
All tools and materials are provided, and there's no glass cutting required, making this a brilliant starting point for beginners and a satisfying project for more experienced fused glass makers alike. If you'd like to have a go at cutting techniques during the session, you're very welcome to – there'll be time to explore.
You'll have a rich selection of autumn-inspired glass elements to work with, full of deep, seasonal colours, though you're equally free to go your own way and choose whatever palette feels right for you. Tea, coffee, and biscuits are on hand to keep things feeling warm and enjoyable throughout.
Once the workshop is done, your finished panels will be fired in the kiln and fitted into the front and back of your lantern by your tutor. The completed piece will be returned to the venue within ten days, ready for you to collect and take home – a one-of-a-kind handmade object that looks just as good lit up as it does sitting on a shelf.
