This is a fun activity in Manchester

Welcome to ClayLife; crafting connections through clay.

Whether you’re flying solo, catching up with mates, planning a date or making memories with family, ClayLife is a chance to slow down, get creative and make something of your own.

We now have a ceramics and sculpture studio at Hope Mill in Ancoats, Manchester! It’s home to our hands-on workshops, where we explore everything from sculptural pieces to functional ceramics for your home. Think ramen and matcha bowls, pet bowls, gravy boats, our viral clay sign making workshop, seasonal decorations and plenty more.

Our morning sessions are all about creative freedom. You can choose what you’d like to make, whether that’s a functional piece for your home, a sculptural creation or something completely unique. With guidance from our experienced team, you’ll learn the techniques you need while having plenty of space to bring your own ideas to life.

ClayLife is still mobile, too. We host events at venues across Manchester and can bring a workshop to your chosen location. For birthdays, hen and stag celebrations, and corporate events, we can tailor a hand-building session to your group. Our mobile workshops can cater for groups of 5 - 80; for larger bookings of 20 or more, please get in touch to discuss options and pricing.

Every workshop is beginner friendly, with guidance throughout. We’ll show you how to build your piece step by step, while leaving plenty of room to make it your own. Depending on the workshop, you will be able to paint your own design with underglazes or choose a glaze finish. Your piece will then be professionally glazed and fired, ready for collection from Hope Mill in Ancoats. If you’re visiting from further afield, delivery can be arranged for an additional fee.

Visiting the ClayLife studio? It’s around a three-minute walk from New Islington tram stop, with free parking on site.
The studio is BYOB, and there’s a hot drinks machine just outside the studio if you fancy a cuppa while you create.

The studio is on the third floor of an older building. There is a lift, but if it’s unavailable, you’ll need to use three flights of stairs. The doorways are also too narrow for standard wheelchairs. Please get in touch before booking if you’d like to discuss access.

Everything you need for the workshop is provided. Please arrive 10 minutes early so you can settle in; sessions start promptly, and arriving late may mean you don’t have enough time to finish your piece.

We can’t wait to clay with you!

“The class was amazing, would recommend to anyone. I went with my whole family and were a bit late but the teachers were very graceful about it and caught us up to speed. Kept checking in to give tips etc and was a lot of fun. It was all for Mother’s Day and my mum loved it!”
