“Really lovely class and pace of the teaching, good tips on different techniques and colour combinations. Interesting how we all followed the same instructions but all produced things different. Lovely music and setting. Would have. Liked a slightly smaller paint brush for detailing/fine lines but otherwise lovely selection of equipment”
“Sadly I didn't enjoy this. The lighting was dreadful- glaring sun first of all so you couldn't see the paint colours, then dim orange evening lighting so you couldn't see the paint colours! By the time you got anywhere near the colour you were after you'd missed the 'demo' which you couldn't really see as you were lower than the demo so you couldn't see what the brush was doing. There was too much to get done in 3 hours and no time for sipping or chatting much let alone eating! When i got home was the first time i got to take in my picture - and see how rubbish it was there was no time to review, revisit, get feedback etc. There was no time to perfect any technique. The paint pallets were cardboard plates so they sucked the moisture out the paint which went very gloopy as you mixed and worked the paint.
My tips - different venue - Desco lounge is social/mood lighting not work lighting. Proper pallets so you can work the paint easily and keep a decent consistency. Perhaps instruction on rough plotting of Horizon or other important aspect so you keep proportion vaguely right. I didn't have much room for my sunflowers as my sky was so big. I think not having time to take in your work at all doesn't help. There was no individual feedback or advice 'just do this' 'mix this', 'do that', no real understanding of order we were working in or tips on perspective or technique. I appreciate its a balance of fun and relaxed painting but the relaxed bit evaporated quickly trying to keep up. I think it's a really expensive way to paint a picture that doesn't get finished.
I was really disappointed sadly.”
“It’s always a fabulous night out at paint and sip with Tabby. We look forward to coming every month and love the paintings we take home. Tabby is patient and very skilled - the perfect instructor for a novice like me. It’s amazing how much I’ve learned in a short space of time.”
