This exciting in-person jewellery making class is held in Camden Town, London NW1.
You'll get to learn a new skill while having a fun day out. Whether you're a complete beginner or a craftsperson with existing skills, looking to explore working with textiles to create braided cords, this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to get creative and expand their range of craft skills.
This course (and all my courses) is designed for adults. I do not currently offer classes for children and teenagers.
This class runs from 10am to 5pm with a one-hour lunch break.
During this full-day class, you'll work through a series of samples of different braids, creating short lengths and at least two will be continued into full finished bracelets.
You'll learn to use a foam braiding disk, as well as to have a go working with a traditional wooden braiding stool (Marudai) to create your own woven cords.
Kumihimo is the Japanese art of braiding - and encompasses many styles of braiding using different equipment - this course focuses on working with the most accessible options - using a marudai and a foam braiding disk.
You will get to create a simple striped bracelet from your choice of cords, as well as to go on to create a beaded braid, adding another texture and level of detail to your braids.
Don't worry if you're new to jewellery making or braiding - this class is designed to be fun, relaxed and to provide a supportive environment for everyone. With a small group size of just 3 students, your experienced instructor will guide you through the process, ensuring you feel confident every step of the way.
All the materials you need will be provided, so simply come along on your own or with friends to enjoy a fun and creative evening. As you create your custom jewellery pieces, you'll experience the satisfaction of seeing your pieces come to life. By the end of the class, you'll have a pair of gorgeous bracelets ready to wear.
The workshop space is downstairs, so unfortunately difficult to access for anyone with mobility problems - apologies for any inconvenience.
