This is a fun activity in Edinburgh

Discover the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi in this soul-stirring workshop where you'll learn to repair and transform your broken pottery into stunning works of art. Through this traditional technique of mending ceramics with metallic embellishments, you'll create pieces that celebrate the beauty of imperfection and tell a story of renewal.

If you've been holding onto cherished broken pottery, this workshop offers a meaningful way to breathe new life into these precious items. Our expert instructor will guide you through each step of the Kintsugi process, sharing both contemporary and traditional methods. You'll work with high-quality materials imported directly from Japan, including specialist tools that make the restoration process both accessible and deeply satisfying.

During this intimate workshop, you'll learn how to assess and prepare your broken pieces, apply binding materials with precision, and enhance your repairs with metallic details that transform imperfections into elegant design features. While we'll primarily work with modern epoxy resin for practical completion times, you'll also witness a fascinating demonstration of the traditional Urushi lacquer technique, offering insights into this centuries-old craft.

This enlightening workshop will help you embrace a new perspective on beauty and imperfection, leaving you with both practical restoration skills and a deeper appreciation for Japanese craftsmanship. Each crack you repair becomes a gleaming reminder that broken things can be made not just whole again, but extraordinarily beautiful.

Our teacher Akihito was very friendly and kind and the small class size meant we were able to get help from her very easily. My friends have never tried kintsugi before and really enjoyed the class. I highly recommend this class. It was easy to use the gift card for this class.

This class was such fun. Akiko, our teacher, was delightful, very patient and caring. Her instructions were clear and precise. I like the idea of bringing things back to life so that they may be enjoyed all over again. It would be a treat to become more skilled at Kintsugi. The other members in the class were enthusiastic and so pleasant to meet. Now I need to find a reliable source for materials so that I can continue.
