ViViVi Studio offers 4 weeks throwing classes for all levels, providing a step-by-step approach to creating your own beautifully designed pottery. Whether you’re completely new to throwing or looking to refine your skills, this class is the perfect fit for you.
While the throwing process may seem therapeutic, it also teaches valuable lessons as you work with the spinning wheel. Beyond mastering the technique, you’ll learn how to adapt to changes and challenges, cultivating a mindset geared towards problem-solving. At ViViVi Studio, we aim to provide a mindful and enriching experience, helping you enjoy the calm and creativity of working with your hands.
Course outline
Week 1 (10AM - 4th Aug)
- Welcome to ViViVi Studio
- Introduction to the ceramic-making process
- Learning wedging and pinching techniques
- Learning how to throw on potter's wheel
- Projects: Cylinder cups, bowls
Week 2 (10AM - 11th Aug)
- Exploring carving and coiling techniques
- Learning how to decorate and refine your pieces
- Projects: Mugs
Week 3 (10AM - 18th Aug)
- Creating taller and more complex works
- Final making session: completing all pieces in preparation for firing
- Projects: Vases, pots with lids
Week 4 (10AM - 25th Aug)
- Introduction to glazing
- Preparing surfaces for glazing using sandpaper
- Glazing session to finish your creations!
For an additional £5 per item, you’ll be able to keep more than one piece after the course. Your finished item will be ready for collection within four weeks.
