Clay Handbuilding Coiling Class: Medieval Face Jug Reviews

5 Rating 2 Reviews
Read ClassBento UK Reviews

This is a fun activity in Bow, London

Join us and delve into the fascinating world of ceramic medieval face jugs! We will explore their history and culture and take inspiration from the silly expressions and playful details the medieval potters put into their jugs.

Our ceramic hand-building instructor Sorrel will guide you through the process of creating your own face jug. You will learn how to manipulate the clay into your desired shape, followed by how to add detail and texture. Whether you are an experienced potter or a complete beginner, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to learn and experiment with new skills.

The workshop will last 3 hours, and you will be required to return to the studio at a later date (approx. 3-4 weeks) to collect your jugs once they've been fired in the kiln. Postage is available at extra cost.

- We use studio recycled clay and glaze for this class, you will be able to choose a glaze colour from our current selection, and your piece will be glazed for you.
- The group will be limited to six people.

Please note: We strive to help you create something amazing during your pottery class. Because each piece is handmade and involves many variables (such as clay handling, glaze, and firing conditions), we’re unable to offer refunds or replacements for defects or damages that occur in items you’ve made.

We had the best session today! Very lucky to have just the two of us but we were expertly taken through every step and our designs were rescued a number of times throughout! We loved every minute and are so excited to collect our final pieces.

This was an amazing class, we all made completely different funky jugs with lots of advice and support from Sorrel. Will be back to do another one as so many possibilities!
