This is a fun activity in Clapham, London

This ancient Japanese technique not only mends pottery but also enhances its beauty. Gintsugi, the silver counterpart to Kintsugi, uses silver instead of gold to repair broken pottery, creating a unique and striking aesthetic.

In our Gintsugi technique, heat lamps are used with lacquer adhesive and silver mica powder. Led by an experienced instructor, you'll receive step-by-step guidance to create your own unique Gintsugi pieces. No previous experience is required; this class is designed for beginners. You’ll be amazed at how your broken ceramics can transform into beautiful artworks. We offer a vast selection of vintage crockery and Japanese bowls, or you can bring your own piece from home to repair. Throughout the workshop, you'll also gain an appreciation for the beauty of imperfections through the philosophy of wabi-sabi. (Kintsugi and Gintsugi are related to the Japanese philosophy of mushin (無心, "no mind"), which encompasses concepts of non-attachment and the acceptance of change.

Don’t miss this chance to learn a fascinating skill. Plus all served with a gintsugi gin and tonic (no-alcohol gin an option).

By the end, you’ll take home silver-seamed pottery and a deeper appreciation for life’s beautiful imperfections.

I had a lovely time in John's Gintugi class. John was a lovely and warm teacher, who made us all feel very welcome, no matter what our confidence level was going into the class. I could also tell that he was super passionate about the art and philosphy behind Gintsugi, which he shared throughout the class. The space is just lovely too, and it was a highly relaxing and fun class. I repaired a mug that I previously broke, and made a new trinket dish. I will be back to do mosaics!

We absolutely loved our workshop. John was funny, attentive and engaging throughout. We brought a broken cup that we were able to repair, but also made beautiful new pieces. We were thoroughly engaged and entertained! Could not recommend more.

We loved our gintsugi workshop. John was a brilliant host; really welcoming and kind and helpful, and made sure we were all comfortable and having a good time. Was so lovely to hear that some of the profits went to funding their charitable arm. Would definitely come back again.
