Make Your Own Scented Candle in Nottingham

Looking for a creative experience in Nottingham? Come and make your own beautifully scented candle at Skilled Hands Organisation CIC. Whether you’re completely new to candle making or already enjoy getting creative, this relaxed hands-on workshop is a lovely way to try something different, learn a new skill and make something you can enjoy at home.

During the workshop, your teacher will guide you through the candle-making process step by step. You’ll choose a fragrance you love, prepare your materials, melt and pour your wax, and finish your candle with your own personal touch.

We use eco-friendly, animal-friendly materials wherever possible, so you can enjoy the experience while being mindful of the materials you use.

What you’ll do

* Learn the basics of candle making
* Explore a selection of fragrances and choose your favourite
* Prepare your candle and learn about the different stages of making it
* Melt and safely pour the wax
* Add your label and personal finishing touches
* Learn simple tips for caring for and getting the best from your candle

While you’re creating, you can enjoy a choice of hot or cold drinks and sweet treats. There’s plenty of time to ask questions, chat and enjoy the creative process.

Your candle

Because your candle needs time to cool and set safely after it has been poured, it may not be ready to take home immediately at the end of the workshop. We’ll arrange collection the following day or at another convenient time.

“Teacher was really lovely and knowledgeable but there were some issues... 1) Change of venue prior to class. This was ok but we were a bit disappointed when the teacher said we could have used the proper equipment if we'd been at the original venue which was closed because it was half term. 2) When we asked the teacher if she ran the classes often she said that it was her first paid classes as they were normally run for free for people in Nottingham. This was a bit upsetting as we'd paid £48 each for the class (which was only 1hr 15mins instead of 1hr 30mins). 3) We were the only attendees so there was no atmosphere. The information given said the class would be cancelled if not enough uptake. 4) We were able to put scent into our candles but there we no colour's available which was a bit disappointing. We also only got to make one candle - the teacher used the extra wax from our candles to make her own! 5) The teacher did not demonstrate by making her own candle. Instead, on occasion, she took over what we were doing meaning that my friend did not even get to pour her own candle. 6) And finally and probably the worst thing...she had not considered how we would get our extremely hot and liquid candles home. There was no way of transporting or no offer of posting once set. Instead we were told we'd have to pick them up. I live in Solihull (51 miles away). My friend did who lives a little closer (25 miles away) is going to try and pick up. Really disappointed. Lots of potential as a class but our experience was not great. Would appreciate a response from yourselves regarding this and a refund or partial refund as feel we were Guinea pigs for a new course at a very high price - especially as we currently have nothing to show for it!”
