The Japanese word kokedama (苔玉) translates to 'moss ball'. It's made up of the words koke, which means "moss", and dama, which means "ball".
A kokedama is a living plant that's suspended in a ball of soil and wrapped in moss. It's a centuries-old art form that originated in Japan and is part of the Wabi-Sabi philosophy. Kokedama can be hung or displayed on a plate and make a beautiful table centrepiece or look stunning in a bathroom.
During this fun beginner-friendly workshop, you will be able to pick your preferred plant, shown how to create the soil blend to create the ball, how to use the moss and wrap the ball with wire/twine. We'll discuss aftercare advice to prolong the life of your plant.
You'll go home with a beautiful Kokedama ready to hang or display at home and treasure for years to come.
