Candlelit Kurinuki Tea Bowl Pottery Workshop Reviews

Read ClassBento UK Reviews

This is a fun activity in Kennington. , London

Kurinuki — a meditative, sculptural, slow and responsive form of creating functional ceramics — means “to hollow”. Unwind into the evening with this slow hour and a quarter workshop by candlelight, working playfully with the two opposing forces we all hold within us: creation through destruction.

You will be guided through how to create a single, beautiful Japanese Yunomi – informal tea cup or bowl – which will be glazed and fired for you after the class. Or –– you can add on a glazing workshop below if you’d like to come back and explore applying pigment across the surface of your vessel.

Workshop Notes

- We offer this workshop once a month, on a Thursday evening (19.00–20.30)

- Within our beautiful, rustic stoneware “Toast” which is a warm, earthy brown which we will glaze for you with a very special, beautiful dolomite glaze. Or, opt to return to glaze your own work.

- Your work will be glazed and fired for you after the workshop, ready to collect around a month later
