This is a fun activity in Harlesden, London
In this hands-on workshop at POW Workshops in London, you'll craft your own hardwood serving board from start to finish. Shaping, sanding, and applying a food-safe finish to create something you'll actually use (or give as a gift that'll genuinely impress).
Over four hours, you'll work through a range of woodworking techniques, guided step-by-step by our experienced instructor. It's a tangible, satisfying project: you walk in with nothing and walk out carrying something you made with your own hands.
**Here's what you'll cover:**
- Selecting and understanding different hardwoods and their characteristics
- Marking out and shaping your board design
- Sawing and cutting techniques to create your chosen shape
- Sanding through the grits, from rough shaping to a smooth, tactile finish
- Applying a food-safe oil finish that brings out the natural grain of the wood
- Basic tool handling and workshop safety
This is a standalone project class with no pathway or progression required. It's designed for complete beginners and anyone who wants to spend a morning or afternoon making something with their hands. It also makes a great experience gift.
**What you'll get**
A beautiful handmade hardwood serving board, finished and ready to use. Perfect as a centrepiece for your kitchen, a charcuterie board for entertaining, or a thoughtful handmade gift. All tools and materials are provided.
