Read ClassBento UK Reviews

This is a fun activity in Burton upon Trent, Derby

This is a half-day introduction to the fascinating world of flame working glass, to create your very own masterpieces to take home.

To begin, we will use an oxy-propane lampwork torch to explore flame working. We will guide you to make several styles of stringers, thin strands of glass used for decoration later, and twists while you become accustomed to working with a flame.

We will then move on to make a number of glass beads and charms in several different styles.

Don't worry if you're new to working with glass – we will provide step-by-step instruction to guide you and demonstrate each step first to ensure you feel confident and inspired throughout the activity. You'll be amazed at how quickly you pick up the techniques and start creating your own unique design.

Myself and a friend had an absolutely wonderful bead making course with Ruth. Ruth is a fantastic teacher, very knowledgeable and very patient and kind with her teaching. We both found the course incredibly enjoyable and are very excited about seeing our beads that we created. Thank you for giving us both a really interesting afternoon Ruth.

Excellent workshop! From the beginning of the session, we were welcomed and introduced to an exciting and interesting experience. The possibilities with so many different colours are endless, and it was fascinating to see how the glass transformed under the flame. Our instructor was patient and supportive, guiding us through the techniques with gorgeous results. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to try something creative and unique!

Ruth was lovely and very informative and obviously really enjoyed passing on her knowledge. Being total novices it took a little time to start to feel the movement of the glass but mesmerising and such fun to do. A brilliant morning

Everything was clearly explained and the process was good. There was time to do the planned practice and create a few experiments at the end

I booked a half day session for my wife's birthday, to try something new and different. Ruth was iexcellent, very patient and she demonstrated and explained every step really well. She's very passionate about working with glass, and this shows in the way she teaches. Within half an hour, both myself and my wife had made our first glass beads, and we then moved on to adding colour and patterns. It was a great few hours, a combination of educational and practical. Plus in a week or so we should receive everything that we'd made.

Really nice teacher. Very clear they had a good understanding of the subject, very nice, kind, taught very well. I never felt out of my depth and I ended up with some very nice glass beads at the end of it. I would recommend if someone thinks this may be for them, or just want to get something different!

Lovely Ruth talked me through a range of techniques for bead making, patiently and in way that was very easy to follow. The time flew by and I really enjoyed it. Thank you Ruth for a really enjoyable half day of bead making (and lots of chatting as well!)
