This is a fun activity in Homerton, London

If you've ever wished you could fix that loose button or mend that small tear yourself, this sewing workshop in Hackney Wick shows you just how achievable these skills are.

We will start by introducing myself and explaining my approach to sewing and upcycling. I'm passionate about sustainability and believe in giving old garments a fresh look.

Throughout the session, you'll work either with your own clothing that needs repair or practice on provided fabric samples while enjoying a complimentary cup of tea or coffee. Your instructor shares their passion for sustainable fashion and upcycling, demonstrating how simple repairs can keep clothes looking fresh and prevent waste. You won't be using sewing machines during the session, with the focus on hand-mending techniques making this a versatile and useful addition to your skillset.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have mastered practical mending techniques that will help you maintain your wardrobe for years to come—a perfect blend of traditional skills and modern sustainability.

Rachel is an amazing teacher, she made us feel at ease with a cup of tea to start and she asked what we knew already and if we wanted to focus on specific things. I had few personal things to mend and she helped to fix them. We were super lucky and it was just 2 of us so it turned out to be almost a 1to 1 class. I really enjoyed it and I really recommend it. Rachel is an eclectic artist and she also does the cutest crochet project and beautiful resin jewellery that you can buy in the cafe by the studio! I got one ring myself, too nice.

Great Environment! Rachel’s way of knowledge sharing was so on point, I felt very comfortable asking “stupid” questions etc. I’m leaving the class very inspired and soon will book another one.

Brilliantly informative yet laid-back class. Rachel has a really easy-going approach which balances perfectly with her years of experience. We covered the basics in a conversational style with lots of space and patience for questions and practice. We worked on our own items and I genuinely left feeling ready and confident to tackle more sewing. I’m keen to book into more sessions. Highly recommended.
