In this hands-on four-week ceramics course, you'll learn the foundational skills of wheel throwing, progressing from basic forms to more complex pieces. Each week builds your confidence and abilities, culminating in a collection of handmade pottery you'll be proud to display or use at home.
Starting with the essential skill of centring clay on the wheel, you'll develop your technique week by week in a supportive London studio environment. The course is carefully structured to help you master each new challenge:
- Week 1 - Centering and throwing a cylinder
- Week 2 - Centering and throwing a bowl
- Week 3 - Centering and throwing a lidded jar
- Week 4 - Trimming your pieces
The small class size ensures you'll receive plenty of individual guidance as you learn to feel the clay and respond to its movements on the wheel.
This immersive experience offers two options for finishing your pieces: you can book an additional glazing session to learn this crucial skill yourself, or have our experienced tutor glaze your work for you. Every piece you create will be fired and finished, ready to take its place in your home.
