This was a lot of fun, as far as a couple’s experience that wasn’t just a standard date night. Both my partner and I had a great time and came out with portraits that we’re quite proud of. Overall, it’s worth it. Some things to note, however: the room is definitely bathed in UV light, so if you’re not wanting to paint with neon paints, this might be a little tricky. We both just wanted to use the acrylics, and we used a lot of time turning our phone torchlights on to correctly gauge the colours we were mixing, and it just felt a little harder than necessary (but it was necessary, otherwise colour-mixing would be way-off). Aside from the UV situation, we also found that there was a wide range of paint colours, but nearly every bottle I picked up felt nearly empty, and I noticed that nearly all of us spent a while trying to squeeze out the last bits on numerous bottles. I will say that our host made every effort to get us the colours we needed, but this did eat into the 2 hour time, overall. Lastly, there were essentially no snacks/nibbles to eat, and drinks were limited to bucks fizz and Rosé wine, I believe, along with some juices. I ended up having a mango juice, but spent time focusing on my painting, so only had the one glass. I feel it would add to the experience if it ran for an extra hour with a mini-mixer at the start where people could eat and drink together, before starting. Again, it really was a great date night, and we had a lot of fun; there are just some points that I feel needed to be mentioned (and what shifted me from a 5, to a 4-star rating).

I booked this class as a fun surprise for my partner on Valentine's Day and we found it really fun and something different to do for date night! The teachers were helpful and gave us some ideas and inspo and the fact that there was alcohol flowing definitely helped you relax! The snacks could be improved, but had a really great time and would definitely go again!

Good session overall. There was a wide range of colours to choose from and support was offered, but we expected this session to be guided but the support offered was quite generalized. We also had to observe what other participants were doing to gauge. Some suggestions were along the lines of that pencil details don’t matter and details will be made using paint - but this wasn’t helpful as the painting aspect was harder. The variety of brushes were limited. Given the tasks, the time also seemed limited and we were in a rush at the end.
