This is a fun activity in Wolverton, Milton Keynes

In this workshop, you acquire the skills to repair your beloved garments, ensuring their longevity and sustainability. You will learn how to choose the right methods of repair, select suitable yarn, and utilise darning tools like a darning mushroom. Through TV hands-on practise, you'll master techniques such as simple weave repair, duplicate stitch for reinforcement, and decorative mending using colour and embroidery stitches. A very wide range of colours are available to colour match your garment should you want to try your hand at an invisible darn.

- Discover the appropriate repair method for your knitwear
- Select the correct yarn for the job
- Learn to use darning tools effectively
- Master simple weave repair and duplicate stitch
- Understand how to incorporate colour and embroidery for decorative mending

Please bring along your damaged knitted items, and though you may not complete multiple repairs during the session, you'll receive guidance on mending the remaining pieces. If you lack items for repair, a practise item can be provided.

By the end of the class, you'll leave with newfound skills, a beautifully repaired garment, and a sense of accomplishment. Private sessions and one-on-one classes are available for those seeking a more personalised experience. Please note that my friendly Labrador dog may be present, so consider this if you have allergies or preferences.

I attended one of Sandra’s darning workshop. Even though I was the only one, Sandra made me very welcome so I was fortunate to have a 1:1 session. Sandra’s ‘studio’ is lovely, cupboards full of so many different wool, from which we chose a good match for my jumper. She then guided me to repair it using demonstration and supervised my attempts. I learned very quickly this way and feel confident I will be able to do it alone. We had some tea and cake to finish! I intend to go to her next crocheting class…

I had a lovely afternoon learning visible darning with Sandra who was welcoming and friendly. There were only 2 of us so we got very hands on advice. I took 2 cashmere items, a jumper with holey elbows and a scarf with a moth hole and learnt 2 different mending techniques. I’ve been looking for a visible mending workshops for ages and was delighted with this one which has given me the confidence to tackle my bag of holey woolies. Easy to find and no issues finding parking.
