In this creative resin workshop, you'll learn how to create your own set of wooden coasters with mesmerising seascape designs. Throughout the 2-hour session, you'll develop essential resin techniques while crafting four beautiful, functional pieces to take home.
This hands-on activity welcomes participants of all skill levels, requiring no previous resin or art experience. The process combines simple techniques with stunning visual effects – perfect for complete beginners.
During the workshop hosted at our HQ in Newhaven, instructor & owner of Oceanic Woodstore - Jim will begin by sharing his passion for woodworking and reclaimed materials. You'll then dive into the practical aspects of working with epoxy resin – learning to mix pigments and create realistic wave effects on reclaimed wood bases. The session allows you to select your preferred colours and design your unique seascape pattern. After the class, your coasters will be left to cure for a few days, with Jim adding the finishing touches by sanding any sharp edges and adding cork underlays before they're ready for collection.
By the end of this relaxing workshop, you'll have created four stunning handmade coasters and gained valuable skills in resin art that you can continue to explore at home. The experience offers both immediate creative satisfaction and practical knowledge in a craft that combines artistic expression with functional results.
Please be aware that epoxy resin takes approximately 2 days to fully cure, so you will not be able to leave with your piece on the day. Your bespoke creation will be delivered straight to your door for postage costs included in the class fee.
