This is a fun activity in Wood Green, London

In this practical sewing workshop, you'll learn essential upholstery sewing techniques focused on creating a professional-looking piped cushion. You'll master the art of perfect piping, corner navigation, and zip insertion, taking home your own beautifully finished cushion to proudly display.

Feeling apprehensive about your sewing abilities? This activity is specifically designed for beginners with no prior upholstery experience. The supportive environment (complete with tea and encouraged calming breaths!) ensures you'll feel comfortable as you develop these new skills.

Throughout the session, you'll work with either your own fabric or select from our workshop collection. You can bring your own sewing machine if you have one gathering dust at home, or use one of ours provided for the class. The workshop includes a 45cm cushion filler, though you're welcome to bring a different size if preferred. You'll learn how to properly measure your cushion, taking into account any patterns on your fabric to ensure a professional finish.

By the end of this how-to workshop, you'll discover a new creative skill that combines practicality with artistic expression. The techniques you learn will open the door to further upholstery projects, while your completed piped cushion provides both a beautiful home accessory and a tangible reminder of your accomplishment.

The class was great and Beth was a fab teacher. She was really helpful, guided us through and didn't rush us. We had little knowledge and she answered all our questions. One of us took our own fabric and the other used some of Beth's and the cushions turned out great.
