This is a short course suitable for beginners, making a lovely silver wrap ring and adding individual texture to make it uniquely yours.
During this session, you will get to practise some of the traditional silversmith techniques needed to create your wrap ring. This course will give you a taste of working in a metal workshop, using traditional tools and techniques. A brilliant taster for anyone who is interested in the mechanics of metalwork, and as there is no hot metal involved, this workshop is suitable for 13 years and above with an accompanying adult.
During this course, you will practise the following:
- Measuring your chosen finger and sizing your ring
- Shaping the silver wire into a wrap ring
- Sanding and clean up of your ring
- Adding texture and patterns using hammers
- Finishing and barrel polishing the ring.
Timings for the course are estimates, and as its not a project that can be finished at home the session will continue until your piece is finished.
