Wheel Throwing Class – Manchester

Try your hand at the pottery wheel in this two-hour class, taught by a professional potter. You’ll learn the core techniques of throwing, get messy with clay, and see why this craft is so addictive.
• Learn from an experienced maker in a friendly studio.
• Embrace the challenge – wheel throwing is hard, and success isn’t guaranteed (that’s part of the fun!).
• Use professional tools and materials – everything is provided.
• Allow 25 minutes at the end to clean your wheel (an essential part of the process).

Your pots will be fired and glazed, ready to collect in about four weeks. Collection is simple, and any uncollected work is donated to charity.

Free parking is available, or we’re just a 12-minute walk from Cornbrook tram stop.

Merida was brilliant. She explained everything so well and she is really easy to listen to. You could tell she is very knowledgeable in this area. Very helpful throughout if you needed a helping hand or a bit of advice. 2hrs absolutely flys by but you do have enough time to make a few pots in that time. Excited to see if they survive the kiln and we will definitely be back to try our hand at this again. We LOVED it!!

Great! I think to really practice and get an outcome that I was more pleased with, I'd have benefitted from the session being an hour longer. Still very fun and I'd definitely return

Really enjoyable class in a cute venue. The teacher was very supportive and helpful. Great that you could go at your own pace and there was an endless supply of clay for starting over when, inevitably, it all went very wrong

I had a delightful time at the pottery taster on May 17th. Merida inspired realistic levels of confidence and saw to it that no-one floundered too much. My Goblet awaits firing. I may not become a full- time Potter after all, but will reflect on a fun afternoon. Thank you all.
