Develop your creativity and build your sewing skills with this comprehensive five-week dressmaking course! Whether you’re a beginner or already have some sewing experience, this course is designed to give you the practical knowledge and confidence to create your own garments with ease.
Over five exciting weeks, you’ll work with a variety of fabrics and follow two distinct patterns to create beautiful garments. This activity will teach you how to:
- Learn to read and confidently understand commercial sewing patterns for use in your future projects.
- Gain hands-on experience altering patterns to suit your body measurements, achieving a great fit for your garments.
- From sewing seams to finishing hems and applying professional touches, you'll learn to use both a sewing machine and an overlocker effectively.
- Discover how to make final adjustments after constructing your garment, ensuring your pieces are both comfortable and stylish.
By the end of the course, you’ll not only have created two lovely garments, but you’ll also possess the skills to confidently tackle more projects independently. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of commercial patterns and the ability to adapt them for your own designs, feeling accomplished and inspired.
This class is for those who have already been to our “Intro to sewing” class or who are confident in using and setting up a sewing machine. We won’t be teaching you how to use the sewing machine in this class.
