This is a fun activity in Walworth, London

Join textile artist Pauline Amphlett for a relaxed and creative session at the Sustainability Festival in Castle Square, SE1. In this free, eco-friendly ‘Make, Mend & Upcycle’ workshop you will learn how to breathe new life into your clothing and textiles, all while adding your unique style to them.

If you have a beloved item of clothing that needs repair or simply fancy a creative activity, this workshop is ideal for you. Pauline will teach you basic embroidery and visible mending techniques that allow you to mend, personalise, and upcycle your fabrics in a way that is both aesthetically pleasing and sustainable.

Throughout the workshop, you'll discover how to transform wear and tear into eye-catching decorations and explore creative ways to repurpose instead of discarding. Here's a glimpse of what you can expect:

- Basic embroidery and visible mending techniques
- The art of turning imperfections into attractive embellishments
- Innovative methods to upcycle instead of dispose

You'll receive:
- Expert guidance from textile artist Pauline Amphlett
- Embroidery threads, needles, fabric scraps, and tools
- A welcoming and supportive environment to nurture your creativity

Please bring along a garment or textile in need of repair or rejuvenation. From jeans to tea towels, any item is welcome. If you don't have something to mend, fret not – we'll provide practice materials.

We’re proud to be part of Castle Square’s World Environment Day — a festival of creativity, sustainability and community. Pop in, create something beautiful, and explore all the free activities happening on site.
