Join me for a fun and creative day at my botanical dyeing workshop, where you'll learn to make your very own silk scarf! In this hands-on activity, you will learn the fascinating art of natural dyeing and create your own beautiful silk scarf using botanical materials.
The workshop begins with a glass of fizz while I share a little about my journey as a designer and my passion for botanical dyeing. After the introduction, you will learn how to dye your own 60cm x 60cm silk scarf using the bundle dyeing method. This is a natural dyeing technique that creates beautiful prints from flowers, petals, leaves, and extract dyes.
Your bundle will then be steamed to draw out and fix the colour. While this magical process takes place, you will learn how to print onto a gift card using flower pounding, or 'Tatakizome' – an ancient Japanese technique of hammering plants to create a print.
You'll finish the day with not only a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind silk scarf but also a unique botanical card. This workshop is a wonderfully rewarding experience, showing you how to capture the beauty of nature in fabric and on paper.
