This is a fun activity in Nine Elms, London

Ready to get your hands dirty (in the best way)? In this pottery class in London, you’ll dive into the relaxing and playful world of hand-building - a pottery technique that lets you shape clay entirely by hand. It’s a slower, more sculptural process that’s perfect for beginners and lets you get really creative with shapes and designs.

You’ll get to design and build your very own pottery piece from scratch - whether that’s a mug for your morning coffee, a vase for your favourite flowers, a bowl for snacks (or your dog’s dinner), or something totally unexpected. Want to make a fruit-shaped candle holder? Go for it. A weird little trinket dish with a face on it? Absolutely.

There’s no right or wrong - just your creative flair, a bit of guidance, and plenty of laughs along the way. No experience needed. Just show up, relax, and see where your ideas take you.

- Easy, creative and beginner-friendly
We’ll teach you the key hand-building techniques: coiling, pinching and slab-building. These are the foundations of traditional pottery and are surprisingly easy to pick up. Once your shape is formed, the fun really begins - painting and decorating with a full range of colours, patterns, and finishes. Go bold or go minimal. Either way, it’s totally your style.

- Learn as you go
As you’re creating, we’ll talk you through the whole process - how clay behaves, how pieces are fired in the kiln at a sizzling 1300°C, and how glazing gives your creation a glossy, food-safe finish. It’s hands-on, informative and super satisfying seeing how a lump of clay transforms into something beautiful and lasting.

- Want to keep it forever?
For £5-10 (depending on size), we’ll fire and glaze your piece so it’s microwave, dishwasher and life-proof. You’ll get a proper, usable item you made with your own hands.

Come on your own, bring a date or round up some mates. You can bring your own drinks and enjoy a chilled, hands-on evening at House Pottery London.
