This is a fun activity in Edinburgh

Do you love all things eco and sustainable as well as all things fashion? Upcycling is the DIY craft for you!

Come and spend four blissful evenings in the Edinburgh Sewcial Club studio up-cycling or restyling your old clothes at this craft class in Edinburgh!

During this four-week course, you will learn pattern cutting techniques to allow you to resize vintage clothes or charity shop finds or how to make completely new garments from old, re-line jackets etc.

Don't worry if you're new to up-cycling - machine sewing is required so best you've attended a beginner's sewing class or have prior sewing experience - this fun up-cycling course will help to build your skills and confidence — you'll be making stunning, bespoke pieces in no time at all!

Class sizes are kept small to ensure you have ample one-to-one tutor time to discuss your projects with a dressmaker and designer who has over 20 years of sewing and pattern-cutting experience and over 10 years of teaching.

At the end of this social, four-week course you'll have the skills to transform your wardrobe and re-vamp vintage and charity shop items to your style and liking. Best of all, you'll leave with a gorgeous up-cycled piece to inspire further creations and DIY projects!

The class was amazing, and Cerri is a really skilled teacher! I recommend this class for people who have a sewing machine at home (and have already done few projects), as to make the most of the class, you should have already brainstormed ideas on what you'd like to upcycle, re-size, etc. and have specific questions for the teacher. Ideally you'd then do your 'homework' with your sewing machine at home until facing another problem to bring into class. Cerri also had loads of suggestions if struggling to get creative! Suggestion to improve the class: create a list of project ideas (this could be what past students have made for example), to hand-in before starting the class.

Absolutely LOVED the Upcycling class. Cerri was a fantastic teacher, lots of great banter, very welcoming and there really was nothing she couldn’t explain. I fixed the lining on a cashmere coat, added a pocket to a hoody and have a pair of trousers to finish altering. My wardrobe has a new lease of life! Would recommend to anyone who is scunnered with fast fashion and can’t find what they want or things that fit properly.
