Level 3
Saturday 2 Week Class
Embark on an exciting adventure in our 'Introduction to garment making class'. During these 2 days, you will discover how to read a pattern, master the art of laying out and cutting fabric (all of which will be provided), and learn how to assemble a basic skirt. You will bring home a toile, also known as a mock-up, crafted from beginner-friendly calico fabric.
New to garment making? Don't worry! Our class is designed to ease any worries or uncertainties you may have. Throughout the session, you can expect a supportive environment where you can learn at your own pace.
Here is a brief overview of what to expect:
- Introduction to reading a sewing pattern
- Learn the proper techniques for laying out and cutting fabrics
- Work with beginner-friendly calico fabric for your mock-up
- Learn how to install a fly zipper
- Inserting integrated and patch pockets
- Learning how to do a buttonhole!
The point of this class is not to create a Garment to wear, but to use this piece as a practice, where you'll learn multiple skills that will help you on your journey. I know a few people that scoff at the thought of making a skirt, as its not something they would wear, but those people are missing the opportunity to learn that this class would give them.
