This is a fun activity in Clapham, London

Need a break from the endless scroll, everyday routine, and never-ending to-do lists? Join us at Crafty AF Café hosted at HEINMA Studio in Clapham, for a 2h self-guided creative reset.

What is Crafty AF café?

Crafty AF Café is London’s first art & craft experience designed exclusively for adults to reconnect with their creativity.
Settle in with a cup of tea, enjoy a small treat, and choose from an abundance of creative experiences. Think painting, watercolours, clay sculpting, collage, beading, candle painting and more.

All materials are provided and you get to keep all your amazing creations.
No pressure, no rules -- just time to explore, experiment, and enjoy.

The session is open to everyone - complete beginners, curious creatives, over thinkers, and anyone in between.

At Crafty AF, the focus is on creativity and play rather than the end result because I strongly believe that creativity is essential, talent optional.

“The workshop was at a pretty, little, whimsical shop, with air conditioning, which was nice for a hot day. I loved the decor. My family and I went there on a weekday afternoon, so there was only us and we were comfortable. It was a peaceful and therapeutic session, with no crowd, just us, a teacher and some lovely music. I would recommend only booking for non-busy times with your whole family or friend group, as I can imagine the space getting quite cramped and messy with a bunch of other strangers attempting to try as many crafts as possible in 2 hours. Some arts and crafts too take more space and can get messy, like clay-sculpting, so one small table area would not be enough. There was a great variety of arts and crafts to choose from and they all seemed very interesting and fun. We choose to do candle painting, clay, bracelets. Candle painting was nice, as it was not a difficult craft and we get to take home some non scented coloured candles. High-quality paint specifically for candles were provided. We loved the clay sculpting too, as there were lots of air dry clay and sculpting tools provided. We made trinket bowls. They turned out amazing, but it would have been nice if the workshop provided some sort of packaging for customers to carry ther artwork home, rather than a flimsy scrap of cardboard. A paper bag or box perhaps? We luckily just bought some shoes, so we had shoe boxes to carry our non dried clay sculptures and candles, as we travel home. There were a great selection of charms for bracelets and the flower and sea animal charms were adorable. We attempted to create bracelets and phone charms. They looked lovely, but there were not really any instructions as to how to tie the bracelets. Most kits do not come with any instructions, so I would imagine beginners struggling to create some art there. The teacher does not really teach. She was kind to offer us peach tea and biscuits, but was not really engaging with us throughout the whole class, other than at the beginning and the end. There was no demonstration or any teaching of any techniques or how to start a craft. The teacher was mostly on her phone and making her own embroidery. When my younger sibling was struggling to use the glue gun and the dried up super glue, it took the teacher a long while for her to stand up and help us. Near the end, she ordered us to clean the workshop while she sat there for most of the session, and we did not pay to clean in our last 15 minutes. We did not mind cleaning after time was up though, so we did that after. The workshop was still worth it, as it gave my family an opportunity to bond through art and we got to try something new. The products turned out lovely. Yet, there were times we were confused, as they were not much guidance and the teacher was not attentive or engaged. It would be nice, if the teacher could provide some art inspiration as well, like through pictures or made artworks, for each craft.”
