This is a fun activity in Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle
Learn how to produce beautiful Prussian blue photographs on glass in this unique cyanotype workshop in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
This fascinating activity will introduce you to the 19th-century process of cyanotype photography, with a special focus on exposing images onto any flat glass surface. Although this technique is commonly used on paper and fabric, printing on glass is a more involved method, and this workshop will show you exactly how it's done.
Whether you're new to cyanotypes or have tried the process before, you'll be able to fully participate and learn this specialist skill. Your tutor, Nick, will guide you through every stage of this hands-on activity. You will learn how to create the special mixture needed to coat the glass, prepare a digital image, and print a photo negative. You will then expose the glass to UV light and develop the striking blue image in water. You'll also have the chance to make some cyanotypes on paper during the class.
You will be able to take your unique glass and paper creations home on the day. As no two prints are ever the same, each piece has the distinct quality of a handmade artwork. This class offers a magical experience, allowing you to explore a historic photographic process and create a truly one-of-a-kind piece of art.
