Ruth was a lovely teacher and host who was very welcoming and generous with her time. I've never piped buttercream before and was pleasantly surprised to have some presentable cupcakes at the end of the class - testament to Ruth's teaching abilities! It was great fun, even as a solo attendee. The only suggestion I have is to maybe include some direction or signposting to find the venue as it didn't come up on Google maps.

I had an amazing time with Ruth. She’s the best. Takes her time to fully explain everything and actually wants you leaving the class learning the skills and teaching you rather than just attending. I would definitely recommend and I will be looking at booking future classes with her. Thank you so much

The cupcake class was good, and I did have a fun time, although I would say I was expecting more. The venue was a basic, classroom type environment in a youth club, wasn't the calming cupcake making space perhaps I thought we would have. Basic improvements such as table cloths, some music, place cards or other details could have made this venue more appropriate and welcoming for the activity. The teacher was a lovely woman and clearly very talented at cake decoration. However, she didn't lead with a demonstration and then for us all to follow, the instructions were difficult to follow and it felt as though we were teaching ourselves some of the time. Some participants didn't even have enough resources and materials for the class. I think I would've preferred a more informative class with more direction on how to use the utensils and properly decorate the cakes. There were also small hairs in the icing (I am blonde). I felt as though I could've bought the nozzles, printing off the templates and watched a youtube video. As I first said, the class was fun, the women in the class were nice but I think for £30 per person in Central London, I did expect a lot more from the class and I would be hesitant to book a Class Bento class again. I think I would prefer to pay more and go for a smaller, independent business.

I love baking, but not great at decorating with icing. I attended this with a friend who also loves to bake – we both loved it! Ruth was an attentive teacher and taught us useful skills and tips for working with royal icing, buttercream, piping bags and nozzles. She had all the kit and made learning icing skills fun and easy. The rest of the group was great too – everyone was so into it! Ruth has inspired me to get more creative and adventurous when icing my cupcakes and cakes in the future. We also learned how to decorate cookies with some pattern-making techniques – this is a whole new skill for me. I can't wait to practice my new icing skills on my next bake!! I highly recommend this class with Ruth.
