This is a fun activity in Homerton, London
Experience a rare and playful approach to ceramics in this Kurinuki class in London, where making a vessel becomes an intuitive and creative journey. Kurinuki is a traditional Japanese carving technique that transforms a single block of clay into a unique, organic form. Guided by our skilled instructor, you’ll carve your own cup or small bowl.
Perfect for beginners or anyone seeking a fresh perspective on ceramics, this class offers a relaxed, hands-on environment to experiment and connect with the clay in a mindful way. A small group setting with up to 10 participants ensures plenty of personal guidance and space to explore!
**What to expect:**
- Step-by-step guidance on traditional Kurinuki carving techniques.
- Time to design and carve your own cup from a solid block of clay.
- Choose a glaze from our studio glaze board at the end of the session.
- One fired piece (up to 8 cm × 12 cm) included in the fee; additional or larger pieces can be fired for an extra cost.
- Please only fire pieces you truly love to support sustainability.
Your finished piece will be glazed and fired by our team and ready for collection around four weeks after your class. We’ll email you once it’s ready -- please collect within four weeks, as uncollected work will be donated due to limited studio space.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a unique hand-carved creation and a newfound appreciation for this meditative, organic approach to clay.
