This is a fun activity in Birmingham

Celebrate your child’s special day with a fun and creative painting party at Cartland’s Tearoom. This relaxed workshop-style experience is designed to help children enjoy themselves while creating their own unique masterpiece.

Upon arrival, your host will welcome you and your guests into the venue and briefly guide everyone through the activity. The session is supported throughout by a member of staff, allowing everything to run smoothly while parents can relax and enjoy the occasion. The experience typically lasts between one hour and one and a half hours.

Each child will have their own canvas and all the materials needed to bring their ideas to life. The focus is on having fun, being creative, and enjoying the experience together in a safe and encouraging environment. All paints are washable, and there is no need to worry about protecting surfaces.

To keep everyone refreshed, each child will enjoy a delicious milkshake (strawberry, vanilla, or chocolate) topped with whipped cream and sprinkles. Sugar-free cordial is also available, and we are happy to cater for all dietary requirements.

You can also enhance the celebration with optional extras such as:
• Cupcakes or a bespoke birthday cake
• Face painting
• Cupcake or biscuit decorating
• Lunchboxes for each child

At the end of the session, each child will take home their own piece of artwork — a lovely keepsake and a reminder of a special day.

Please note: Each party is unique, and canvas designs may vary depending on the age group.

booked a “sip and paint party” for my daughter’s 7th birthday based on their website, which promised a fun, engaging, and supervised session where every child would leave with their own completed artwork. What we actually experienced was completely different—and incredibly disappointing. The children were left mostly on their own, sitting quietly and trying to paint in silence, with almost no guidance or interaction from the host. Many quickly lost interest and gave up. A last-minute attempt at a “competition” with only 30 minutes left came far too late and felt completely inappropriate. This was supposed to be a celebration, but instead it felt like a poorly managed activity with minimal care for the kids’ experience. The venue itself was nothing like advertised: dull, dated, and lacking basic touches such as table coverings. While I appreciate the effort made with decorations, milkshakes, and snacks, that was not what I paid £200 for. I didn’t ask for extras—I expected a real children’s party, with engagement, guidance, and excitement. What was most upsetting was that when I raised these concerns, the response seemed to suggest that the issue was with my personal expectations rather than the experience they provided. I find this extremely unfair and dismissive. This was my child’s birthday, a day I care deeply about, and the lack of engagement, supervision, and basic party structure left both the children and me disappointed and frustrated. My daughter did enjoy a little of it, but overall this was embarrassing and upsetting for both the kids and the parents. I hope this review helps others understand that this business’s “sip and paint party” is not what’s advertised and falls far short of what a proper children’s party should be. I am continually being met with responses that take no accountability and have ignored my request of a full or partial refund. Please see pictures below which do NOT resemble pictures on the website , however , the organiser suggests that “ In terms of the venue, we do not guarantee a specific room layout or styling, and we do not provide table coverings as part of our standard offering” Absolutely horrific.
