This is a fun activity in Glasgow
Join this friendly, structured drawing and painting course in Glasgow, led by award-winning artist Sarmed Mirza at Sarmed Art Studio. This small-group, in-person class helps teens (16+) and adults strengthen their artistic foundations, master essential techniques, and find their unique creative voice in a supportive studio setting.
If you feel hesitant about starting, this workshop is designed to gently guide you through the fundamentals. You'll learn about drawing, line, proportion, perspective, and shading, while building a solid foundation in painting techniques and artistic vision.
The activity unfolds progressively week by week, offering tailored feedback and guidance to support your individual growth from drawing to painting. As you hone your skills, you’ll not only enhance your technical abilities but also gain valuable insight into the mindset of a working artist.
**In this class, you will learn:**
- Drawing fundamentals – Explore line, proportion, perspective, and shading
- Understanding light – Grasp tone, and composition
- How to paint – Get an introduction to painting techniques such as colour mixing, layering, and brush control
- The creative process – Move from observation to expression
- Recognising and developing your unique artistic style
**Throughout the course, you will:**
- Strengthen your observational skills and creative decision-making
- Learn how to present and showcase your artwork effectively
- Receive guidance on submitting work to local exhibitions or art calls (for students at the right stage)
You’ll be learning in a small, friendly group setting, connecting with other aspiring artists and sharing inspiration along the way. All necessary materials are provided for you, but feel free to bring your sketchbook or paints if you prefer.
By the end of the class, you’ll take home a developing artwork that you can refine over subsequent sessions (some students complete a piece each week, others continue building on one work across the block). You'll also gain a solid understanding of drawing and painting fundamentals, renewed confidence, and a clearer sense of direction in your artistic expression.
