Learn the art of lost wax carving with this London jewellery workshop, creating yourself a ring, pendant or two charms using wax to form your design.
Lost wax carving involves building a mould around a wax model. After the mould sets, the wax is melted away to create a space that metal can be poured into. This type of carving and casting can create beautiful details and it makes for unique jewellery.
Have some creative fun with friends and loved ones in this class by creating special jewellery pieces together. Working in your teacher's welcoming London studio, you'll be shown how to use jeweller's wax to create your unique accessories.
In this beginner wax carving workshop, you will be taught how to carve a ring, pendant or charms using a range of wax carving tools. The finished wax is then sent to a caster for casting into silver ready for cleaning and polishing to be picked up at a later date or posted out to you within two weeks.
During you're class you'll learn how to:
- Create designs for wax carving.
- Carve a jewellery design using wax tools.
- Finish and clean up wax design ready for casting.
You'll make one of the following:
- Ring (max 8mm wide).
- Pendant (30mm by 15mm).
- 2 x charms or 2 x small pendants (15mm by 15mm).
