This is a fun activity in Abbey Wood, London

Discover the calming, hands-on craft of willow weaving in this inspiring outdoor workshop held at The Clearing, a purpose-built creative space in the heart of Lesnes Abbey Woods in London. Surrounded by nature and kept warm and dry beneath a large parachute canopy and around an open fire, you’ll have the perfect setting to settle into the gentle rhythm of weaving.

This workshop is completely beginner friendly. You’ll start by exploring willow in both its dry and wet states, learning how it moves, bends, and behaves before trying out simple techniques to shape and manipulate it with confidence.

**What to expect:**
- Learn to handle willow in wet and dry forms, building up the basics of bending, shaping, and weaving.
- Create your own willow animal sculpture -- a smaller piece on your own, or a larger, more ambitious design if you’re attending as a family or group (just ensure it fits in your vehicle!).
- Discover how Creative Nature supports local community groups and schools through collaborative willow artworks.
- Enjoy a cosy, welcoming outdoor workspace with an open fire, full shelter, and all protective equipment provided.

By the end of the session, you’ll head home with new skills, a unique willow creation, and the warm glow that comes from creativity, fresh air, and shared making.

Stephen, Xavier and Holly were all amazing! Particularly Stephen who ran the course, was so talented, kind, encouraging and was so funny had us in stitches for the whole day! When we arrived he showed us ref pictures of what other 1st timers had made I thought - no way! But every one of us created something to be proud of! My to tips - definitely do it but take a kneeling pad if you have one! Big thanks to the team! I made an almost life sized Galapagos saddleback tortoise and have named him Dave in honour of Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday weekend.
