I throughly enjoyed my day. Stephen's passion for nature shone through. He was so welcoming and personable. The creating of the fire circle and then building of the fire was really quite empowering, especially the use of tools that I initially felt nervous about. Stephen explained every detail of the process and adapted to the needs of each individual. The sharing of the tea made on the fire was a lovely moment ~ the tea was delicious (not to mention the lovely biscuits and snacks that we shared). A real highlight for me was Stephen's guided meditation, this too, as with all our activities was centred around 'our' fire. I meditate myself but have not experienced one where so much detail thought and guidance were included for a very long time. It was lovely meeting and speaking with Bill a Woodland regular and I love that passers by were invited to engage with what we were doing. Stephen was completely in the moment which made it easy for us to be and there was no pressure to stick to a schedule. The soup and bread, again, heated up on our fire, was a joyous nutricious delight and the generous portions did not stop me going back for more! The importance of re-setting for the next batch of users was highlighted and completed the circle of the day ie Thoroughly dousing the fire, raking and clearing the circle and striking the canopy. The discussions about the importance of making time to be in nature have stayed with me and encouraged me to get out into it more often. I really recommend the event. It was great fun, highly educational and I felt our group bonded in a lovely way.
