Start the New Year with a fresh burst of creativity in these inspiring watercolour workshops in Plymouth, where you can choose from three different approaches to painting -- each one playful, expressive, and wonderfully freeing. Whether you're looking to loosen up your style, try new materials, or simply enjoy a mindful day of art-making, this class offers a rich mix of techniques to spark your imagination.

This workshop is perfect for complete beginners as well as returning painters who want to experiment, explore, and rediscover the joy of watercolour. No pressure, no perfection -- just colour, curiosity, and supportive guidance throughout!

**What to expect:**
1. Experimental Mini-Landscapes in Watercolour
- Discover how watercolour can “paint itself” as you explore:
- Wet vs. damp paper techniques
- Painting with pure water into colour
- Glycerine for dreamy blending
- Scratch marks, salt, resist sticks, sprays
- Creeping colour effects and atmospheric textures

2. Watercolour Painting on Tissue Paper
- Create beautiful, semi-abstract patterns using:
- Tissue paper to build atmospheric layers
- Collage techniques
- Printing, texturing, and using tissue as a ground

3. Watercolour and More!
- Play with pattern, composition, and tone using mixed media such as:
- Watercolour
- Water-soluble crayons
- Inks and pens
- A loose, creative grid method to explore what visually appeals to you

By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a collection of experimental artworks, a deeper understanding of watercolour’s expressive potential, and the confidence to continue exploring at home. A joyful, creative reset for the year ahead!

I bought this Exploring Watercolour workshop as a gift for a friend and I could not have been happier. The whole day was thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable. Shari and Sharon were really welcoming and the studio was an inspiration for anyone interested in crafting. We learnt many new techniques throughout the day and we were able to ask for advice on all aspects of watercolour painting. We came away from the session feeling inspired! I would recommend this workshop and will be looking to take part in future classes.
