This is a fun activity in Camberwell, London

This class is for anyone who wants to start sewing but is still afraid of their sewing machine!

Your experienced practitioner Alice Holloway will take you from zero to confident sewing machine user in this short, fun course -- no experience needed! By the end, you'll have produced a small lavender pouch to protect your clothes.

**You will learn:**
- How to thread your machine
- How to wind on and load the bobbin
- How to set up the correct stitch and tension
- Tips for sewing straight, even seams
- Tips for sewing curved seams

Once you've completed this course, you're ready to start your own sewing, repair, or upcycling project, or maybe take a more advanced sewing course at The Remakery! Accompanied children are welcome to take part in this class.

If you already own a sewing machine then bring it with you, otherwise we have a range of machines for you to work on.

For our Thursday Taster Classes we offer 'Community Taster Tickets' at £5
These tickets are aimed at peope who face financial barriers to taking part, particularly if you're under 25 or unwaged.

The True Cost ticket allows us to keep the programme going, we appreciate the support of all the local crafters out there who come to try something new and meet likeminded people.

Please note- due to the high admin cost of rearranging classes we don't offer refunds or reschedules for Thursday evening classes.

I really enjoyed the sewing class and learned a lot, especially as it was my first time using a sewing machine. It’s definitely more challenging than I expected! The group was friendly, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. A couple of small points for improvement: it seemed that some materials were missing, which meant we had to share the same machine at one stage to attach the zipper. Also, I think adding an extra 30 minutes to an hour would allow everyone more time to get comfortable with the machine and complete each step without feeling rushed. In terms of the space, the sewing room could be a bit cleaner, tidier, and more welcoming. The restrooms especially need significant attention, and future participants might prefer to avoid using them if possible. Unfortunately, the class is quite far from my home, otherwise I would have loved to attend more sessions. Overall, it was a fun and valuable experience, and I’m grateful for the class!
