This is a fun activity in York

Join this two-day wood carving course at Murton Park in York and discover the art of sculpting with timber. Over two consecutive days, you'll learn everything you need to know to get started, from understanding the functions of different chisels and the numbering system to mastering the techniques required for various cuts.

Your teacher, professional sculptor Geraint Lloyd, will guide you through the process, sharing his expertise on how to get your tools shaving-sharp and advising on the best sharpening systems and brands.

There is no previous experience required, making this workshop perfect for beginners. You'll be able to work at your own pace on a project that suits your skill level, with stage-by-stage instructions and demonstrations to support you. You'll be working outside in the apple orchard near the café (under cover if necessary), allowing you to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful surroundings as you create.

All tools, materials, and equipment are provided, so you just need to bring yourself. By the end of the course, you'll have a high-quality finished carving to take home, along with the confidence and knowledge to continue carving in the future.

**Please note:** This course runs at several venues including Chillington Hall (Brewood), Snowshill Manor (Cotswolds), Hanbury Hall (Droitwich), Avoncroft Museum (Bromsgrove), and Murton Park (York).
