This is a fun activity in Marble Arch, London
Treat your Mum for Mother's Day and spend 4 relaxing hours learning to weave your own fabric with textile designer Ashanti Farquhar. Switch off from the pace of London and enjoy the therapeutic and mindful practice of this traditional craft.
This workshop is completely beginner-friendly, and no previous experience is needed. You'll be guided gently through each stage, helping you feel confident as you learn. You’re encouraged to work at your own pace, ask questions, and enjoy the process as much as the finished piece.
**What to expect:**
- Learning how to set up and work with a frame loom.
- Understanding warp and weft and how they work together.
- Exploring basic weave structures and techniques.
- An introduction to different yarn fibres and how to use them.
- Guidance from yarn selection through to removing your fabric from the loom.
- Take-home information sheets to continue weaving after the workshop.
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with your own handwoven fabric and a solid understanding of the fundamentals of weaving. Whether you’re making a gift or simply treating yourself to creative time, this workshop offers a grounding, rewarding experience and fun new skills!
