This is a fun activity in Wapping, London
In this engaging experimental tapestry weaving class in London, you’ll explore the ancient art of weaving through a contemporary lens, creating your own unique textile from scratch. Working on a simple frame loom, you’ll experiment with materials, texture, and pattern to produce a beautiful woven piece to take home and proudly display.
If you’re new to weaving, you’re very welcome here. This class is fully guided, relaxed, and designed to help you feel comfortable from the very start. Everything is explained step by step, with plenty of encouragement and space to experiment.
**What to expect:**
- Learn the basics of frame loom weaving
- Experiment with a variety of materials and textures.
- Explore decorative stitches and introductory tapestry techniques.
- Take a playful, experimental approach rather than strict traditional rules.
- Work in a calm, supportive, and creative environment.
- Create a finished woven piece to take home!
- Work with a variety of fibres and materials, some of them hand dyed with natural dyes by me!
The class lasts 4hs in total including 30mins lunch break. You could take additional brakes if needed.
By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a handmade woven artwork, a sense of calm from the meditative rhythm of weaving, and the confidence to continue exploring this versatile craft in your own time. It’s a soothing, creative experience that’s as much about the process as the finished piece.
