Over the course of three and four hours, you'll receive hands-on help every step of the way as you learn the foundations of this traditional craft. It's a great place to start your creative adventure, and you're even welcome to bring along your favourite snacks and drinks to enjoy while you work.
Your expert teacher will guide you through a variety of essential techniques, including:
- Punching – Create precise holes for assembly and decoration.
- Cutting – Learn how to handle leather with accuracy.
- Edging – Smooth down the sides for a professional finish.
- Skiving – Thin the leather for better flexibility and fit.
- Burnishing – Friction-fit the edges to achieve a beautiful sheen.
- Finishing – Apply the final touches to protect your work.
- Embossing – Personalise your mask with unique patterns and textures.
You'll be working with some of the finest materials available, including ethically sourced, full-grain, vegetable-tanned leathers. You can choose from Derbyshire cow leather that ages beautifully, elegant and durable French goat leather, or incredibly strong and lightweight kangaroo leather.
By the end of the session, you'll have gained the confidence to handle professional tools and walk away with a bespoke leather mask that's truly one of a kind. It’s the perfect way to switch off from the daily grind and leave with a newfound passion for artisan crafting.
