The Art of Paper Embroidery - Sew a Boat Taster Workshop Reviews

This is a fun activity in Manningtree, Colchester

This "Sew a Sailing Boat" workshop with Sam Luxford is an ideal taster session for embroidering on paper. Embroider a sailing boat directly onto navigation chart paper.

There will be a selection of chart sections for you to choose from. They will all be off the coast to keep the background paper fairly simple; your embroidery will be the star of the show!

Each student will choose their own thread colours and boat direction, so each piece will be totally individual. Your finished piece will be mounted, ready to drop straight into a 6x8 inch standard frame.

You don't need any experience to join this crafty workshop—just an enthusiasm to learn a new creative skill! Classes have a capacity of 8 to keep things relaxed.

Please be aware that our workshop space is upstairs, and our stairs are fairly steep, but there are handrails on both sides.

You'll leave with a host of new paper embroidery skills, your completed masterpiece, and the confidence to keep creating at home!

Another great class at Navistitch. It was only a taster but still learnt some new types of stitches and came away with a lovely piece of work. Inspired to use skills I've learnt and create some new pieces for my home. Thanks again Sam for a fun class.

Sam is such a good teacher and very patient indeed. As usual, she made us all feel very welcome and explained and demonstrated what we would be doing. It was very satisfying learning new stitches and choosing the paper and embroidery threads we would use to achieve a boat and waves on navigational chart paper. I thoroughly enjoyed the class, as did my friends.
