This is a fun activity in Archway, London
Sushi is one of Japan’s most famous and beloved foods — and in this fun Parent & Child cooking workshop, you’ll learn how to create beautiful sushi together from scratch.
Designed for beginners, this hands-on class turns sushi making into a memorable family experience, where adults and children cook side by side while learning the techniques behind restaurant-style sushi.
Our friendly chef-tutors guide you step by step in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Classes are kept small in our spacious, air-conditioned London studio, so every family receives personal attention and plenty of support. Weekday sessions are often quieter and can feel almost like a private class.
No experience is required — just bring your curiosity and appetite.
What You’ll Experience
We begin with a short and engaging introduction covering:
- The history of sushi
- The difference between traditional and modern sushi
- Why Maki rolls became the most popular sushi worldwide
Then it’s time to get hands-on.
You and your child will work together to roll, shape, and present your own sushi creations with guidance from our experienced chef-tutors.
In this beginner sushi class, you and your child will learn how to:
- Understand and season sushi rice properly
- Roll sushi confidently using traditional techniques
- Make a classic Maki
- Make a modern Ura-Maki
- Plate and present your sushi beautifully
Children love the creative process of rolling and shaping sushi, while adults learn the techniques needed to recreate these dishes at home.
Please note: The rice is pre-cooked for the main session. If you'd like to learn how to cook sushi rice from scratch, you can select the Cook Rice Add-on.
By the end of the class, you’ll enjoy your freshly made sushi together or take it home to share with family — along with the confidence to make sushi again in your own kitchen.
