This is a fun activity in Nine Elms, London
Join this large rug tufting workshop in Nine Elms and create a fluffy masterpiece that's uniquely yours. This two-day experience is designed for those who want to go big and spend some quality time getting hands-on with a creative new hobby.
Over two six-hour sessions, you'll be guided by expert tufters who make sure you feel comfortable and confident with the equipment. You'll start with a demonstration of the cut-pile electric tufting gun before choosing from over 100 vibrant yarn colours to bring your vision to life. There’s plenty of time to focus on your design, and you'll even learn how to shave and trim your rug for those professional finishing touches.
Everything you need is provided in the studio, so you can simply show up and enjoy the process. It's a fantastic way to switch off from the daily grind and find your flow while building a tangible new skill.
- Master the tufting gun – Learn the art of using a cut-pile electric tufting gun through a live demonstration.
- Select your palette – Choose from a massive range of over 100 yarn colours on the day.
- Create your rug – Spend your time tufting a large-scale piece of textile art.
- Add the finishing touches – Trim and shave your rug to ensure a high-quality look.
You'll leave the studio with a beautiful 100 x 70 cm handmade rug, feeling completely inspired by your own handiwork and the rewarding experience of making something from scratch.
**Please note:**
- You will book your first day on the website and then arrange your second session with the workshop assistants during your first visit. This second session must be scheduled within two weeks of the first.
- Large rug workshops are not available on Thursdays or weekends as the studio is at its busiest then.
- You must send your design at least 48 hours before your workshop starts; for last-minute bookings, please send it as soon as possible. If your design is not prepared in advance, you may need to wait for it to be drawn after the initial teaching session, and your remaining time will still need to be completed within the original session. If your rug takes longer than the allotted 12 hours, a flat rate of £20 per hour may apply.
- Each booking is for one person to make one rug. The 100 x 70 cm measurement refers to the area of the finished rug, though exact dimensions may vary slightly depending on your specific design shape.
