This is a fun activity in Trafalgar Square, London
Join a relaxed and friendly beginners’ watercolour class focused on capturing people in a fresh, expressive way. Taught by exhibiting artist and teacher Ann Mackowski, this class is all about experimenting, and enjoying the process rather than aiming for detailed portraiture.
Never painted people before? No problem! This class is designed for beginners, with step-by-step guidance, demonstrations, and plenty of individual support throughout.
**What to expect:**
- Learn simple ways to sketch people quickly and capture movement.
- Use loose lines and shapes to suggest figures without overworking.
- Mix natural-looking skin tones using a limited palette.
- Paint clothing with colour, texture, and flow.
- Explore basic watercolour techniques including washes and layering.
- Learn tips for keeping your work expressive and full of life.
- Receive demonstrations and individual guidance throughout the class.
- Enjoy a relaxed, low-pressure environment focused on creativity and experimentation.
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with expressive figure sketches, new watercolour techniques, and more confidence capturing people in your own creative style.
